DENILSON BACKS MESSI

The former Brazil international Denilson has said that he thinks that the Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo does not have the humility of the Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, which does not make him the best player in the world. The 27-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo has always been spoken of in the same breath as the Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, but he has been unable to match the Argentine in terms of the personal accolades. One of the reasons for this has been the humility of the Argentine, which recently shone after he beat the record held by Gerd Muller for many decades.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Andreas Iniesta will be part of the trio who will compete for the much coveted FIFA Ballon d’Or award that is handed out to the best player after every year. However, it is once again expected to be handed to the Barcelona striker Lionel Messi after he has scored more than 80 goals in this calendar year alone. Even though Ronaldo has achieved more with his team by winning the la Liga title and getting to the semifinals of the Euro 2012, his achievements will be overshadowed by Messi due to his humility according to the former Real Beltis defender Denilson.

“Messi is from another planet. He makes everything look so easy. There is no other player that can win the Ballon d’Or. Cristiano has been great, but, Messi has been better. I would put Messi first, Iniesta second and Ronaldo third. Cristiano has to be more humble. The other day I heard him asked what player he thinks is the best in the world and he said himself,” said Denilson. Cristiano Ronaldo has also scored more than 60 goals in the calendar year last season, while he has been equally good this season as well.
