MADRID TO BUILD TEAM ROUND BALE

Real Madrid will build the team around Gareth Bale in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to coachJulenLopetegui. Lopetegui took over the side in controversial circumstances after being sacked as Spain national team boss hours from the start of the FIFA World Cup in Russia. Spain went on to have a bad tournament.

Lopetegui, who is now in charge following the shock resignation of former Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane after their third straight Champions League, is tasked with re-building the squad. The coach has said Bale is happy to remain at the club despite earlier concerns that he would exit. Lopetegui says Bale can help fill the void left by the transfer of Ronaldo, 33, to Juventus.

Ronaldo Affirms Lack Of Relationship Beyond Rivalry With Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for the past few years have endured a rivalry that has seen both players competing against each other to win awards and help their respective clubs on securing some of the major trophies in Europe.
It has recently seemed like the Portuguese attacker of Real Madrid; Cristiano Ronaldo has taken the edge as he was named as the best player of the previous season after his amazing run in the Champions League where he managed to score 17 goals which helped Real Madrid on securing the prestigious European title. In August, the former Manchester United player was awarded with the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award as he was voted as the best performer of the previous campaign out of a shortlist of players that included: Diego Costa, Di Maria, Philipp Lahm, Thomas Mueller, Manuel Neuer, Arjen Robben, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
There have been a series of rumors claiming that C.Ronaldo and Messi have an unhealthy relationship but C.Ronaldo reacted quickly to those rumors as he told the media that his rivalry with the Argentinean footballer is part of his life but that does not necessary mean that Messi is his enemy outside of the pitch in any way.
Cristiano Ronaldo told reporters: “It’s not at all true that we have a bad relationship. We are colleagues and have a professional relationship. We don’t have a relationship outside of football like I have with some other players. He tries to do his best for his club and national team and I do the same. There is a certain rivalry where we are each doing our utmost for our teams. This rivalry is part of my life. It is only normal that people compare us. The same happens in Formula 1 with Ferrari and Mercedes. I’m used to it. I hope that we can both laugh about all this. Football is a game, it’s something fun and something we both like’’

Chelsea Officially Confirms Costa Signing

Chelsea has officially confirmed the signing of Diego Costa as the former Athletic Madrid player will be making his way to Stamford Bridge after signing a contract that will see him remaining with the Premier League club for the next 5 years.

Diego Costa’s sensational form during the previous season attracted the eyes of clubs around the globe but it was Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea the team that eventually managed on signing him.

Costa wrote on Chelsea’s official website: “I am very happy to sign for Chelsea. Everybody knows it is a big club in a very competitive league, and I am very excited to get started in England with a fantastic coach and team-mates’’

“Having played against Chelsea last season I know the high quality of the squad I am joining. I would like to thank everybody at Athletic who made me into the player I am, it was an incredible time for me, but now I am starting a new adventure and I hope to win many trophies with Chelsea.”

Diego Costa was the main attacking powerhouse of Athletic Madrid in the previous season as he helped his former club on winning the Spanish League as they shocked the world by performing better than their rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona which allowed them on claiming the league title in a surprising fashion.

Jose Mourinho is preparing a squad that will not only be able to compete in the Premier League but make a serious charge for the Champions League of the next season as the Portuguese manager is going to have at his disposal some of the best players in the world, which is the case of: Petr Cech, Thibaut Courtois, Oscar, Diego Costa, Andre Schurrle, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard.

Ronaldo Due To Miss Final

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on Wednesday night. The forward has been suffering from a few injury problems the last few weeks. He had already missed the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund. After missing the match against Almeria during the weekend, it was expected that Ronaldo returned to the starting line-up against Barcelona.

After losing the El Clasico 4-3 earlier in the season, this is a great opportunity for Real Madrid to put more pressure on Barcelona, who come into the match on the back of two consecutive defeats. The Catalan club have slipped three points behind Real Madrid in the table and Carlo Ancelotti’s men could inflict yet another defeat that could end their season. Barcelona can be left with only two titles this season – the Copa del Rey and the league title. However, their defence of the league title is not in a good shape after the 1-0 defeat against Granada.

Ronaldo, who is the club’s top scorer and also the current holder of the FIFA Ballon d’Or award, will not be participating in the match according to club manager Ancelotti, who will be now relying upon the likes of Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale for the goals.
“Cristiano is not available because we do not want to take risks with him. The tests conducted on Cristiano Ronaldo have detected a muscular injury to his left hamstring. This is pending developments. Cristiano did not rest because there was no need. There was no situation we saw that suggested he was tired and if he had been tired he would not have played. He has a problem that many players have at this stage of the season,” said Ancelotti.

MEGA MOVE?

Manchester United manager David Moyes has hinted that the club may be prepared to make a mega money offer for Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo in order to bring him back to Old Trafford. Ronaldo became the best player in the world during his time at Manchester United. This resulted in a £ 80 million move to the Santiago Bernebeu. Even with the pressure of this transfer fee, he has been able to perform in an absolutely brilliant way. He has averaged more than a goal per game since moving to Madrid.

He is only a few goals short of the record held by Alfredo di Stefano in much lesser games. However, there has been reports that Ronaldo is not entirely happy at Madrid and that he would want to leave the club. He is also not happy that the signing of Gareth Bale made him the second most expensive player behind the Welshman. Even though he signed a new five-year contract only in the summer, Moyes has revealed that he would one day like to work with Ronaldo due to his history at Old Trafford.

“Everyone at Manchester United would tell you he is the best in the business anyway. I have not been fortunate enough to work with him but there is still hope some day it might be possible,” said Moyes in an interview given to MUTV. “When you have Ronaldo it makes it easy. He scores all the time. He scored three goals on Tuesday. He is an amazing player, for me the best player in the world,” said Anderson about his former teammate.

Anderson has said that playing with Ronaldo is extremely easy because he often comes with the goals necessary to win matches. Ronaldo would cost in excess of £60 million, while he is rumoured to have a release clause of around £1 billion.

NO PRESSURE ON BALE

Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has said that he did not feel any pressure during the weekend’s match against Real Valladolid. Madrid managed to beat their opposition 4-1 with the world’s most expensive player scoring a hat-trick for the first time in Real Madrid colours. Gareth Bale has slowly been coming back to his best after a tough start to life at the Santiago Bernebeu. He was clearly not fit during the first few matches of his Madrid life. Now that he appears to be at full fitness, the Welshman is showing that the money spent on him is worth it.

Madrid paid a world record transfer fee of £ 86 million in order to bring him to the Spanish club. However, Cristiano Ronaldo has been grabbing the headlines for his performances on the pitch, but he was absent for the match against Real Valladolid due to a thigh strain. He was also unable to play against Galatasaray in the midweek Champions League match. Bale was once again impressive in the European encounter, by scoring and creating many others, but he really shone against Real Valladolid.

“It was a massive blow not having Cristiano playing. For me, he is the world’s best player and we had to do a job without him. [But] I didn’t feel any pressure to be honest. I just want to go out there and enjoy my football and thankfully I scored a hat-trick. I think as soon as I scored the second I was trying to get the third. My teammates have helped me to settle in straight away,” said the 24-year-old.

He said that Ronaldo is clearly the best player in the world, but Madrid were able to play without pressure on Saturday despite missing him. Bale has also insisted that more is yet to come from him.

PLAYOFF CONTROVERSY

In Portugal’s previous World Cup qualifying game against Israel, Cristiano Ronaldo was shown yellow card in the first minute of the injury time. Now, that’s something that is pretty normal in the game of football. Players get booked when they cross the line. But, that Ronaldo incident is being discussed a lot in the media and among the fans these days. The discussion is if that booking was intentional on Ronaldo’s part.

Now, let us see why people are thinking so. Portugal’s World Cup qualifying group is Group F. To come close to the group leaders Russia and to keep their hopes alive of directly qualifying for the finals, they needed to secure win against Israel.  But, they couldn’t do that. Now, it’s certain that they have to go through the play offs. So, their next game against Luxemburg is not of much importance.

The yellow card towards the end of the game against Israel ensured that Ronaldo was not going to play against Luxemburg, but, he will be there in the play offs which are starting next month.

However, when the Real Madrid striker himself was asked if that was an intentional thing, he said, “I wouldn’t say anything about that incident. But, one thing is for sure that I want to be there playing for my team in the play offs.”

When asked about the performance of his team against Israel, Ronaldo said, “I don’t think we were up to the mark. We were too slow in the latter half and at times, we looked sleepy. We need big improvements.”

In the play offs, Portugal might have to take on France which is one of the strongest teams in the world at the moment.  When asked about that, Ronaldo said, “They are a world class side. I hope we don’t face them.”

RONALDO STAYING

After being linked with a return to Manchester United for the last few months, Cristiano Ronaldo has finally confirmed that he will not be leaving Real Madrid at least in the summer. The 28-year-old Portuguese attacker has been subjected to intense transfer rumours after stating last season that he was unhappy at the club. PSG, Manchester City, and Manchester United were some of the parties interested in signing him. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said that he would go to the ends of the world in order to keep Ronaldo at the club, while new manager Carlo Ancelotti stated that he was looking forward to working with a player of Ronaldo’s stature.

After saying only a few days ago that he missed the English football, Ronaldo has confirmed that he will not be leaving Real Madrid this summer. The player arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu for a world record transfer fee of £ 80 million, but Manchester United have been linked with a bid closer to the fee. After failing to win the league and the Champions League last season, the club will be focusing on winning all the trophies. Ancelotti has arrived with a big reputation of winning two Champions League titles. He has also won this famous trophy as a player.

“I enjoy of course to play there (Real Madrid), I play there for four years so I want to continue there. It is not the best day to speak about my future. I am going to have time to speak about that at the beginning of pre-season,” said Ronaldo. “My opinion is easy. Ronaldo’s a fantastic, marvellous player. It’s an honour to coach a player like Ronaldo like it was to coach Zidane. Ronaldo was not on the list of players like Brazilian Ronaldo, Zidane and Ronaldinho that I coached,” said Ancelotti.
