Messi and Suarez were guilty of missing some chances during the first hour of the game. It was evident that the front players for Barcelona were tired following the international break compared to Benzema who was not involved with France.

It is, however, Barcelona who opened the scoring by Gerard Pique after a corner. His powerful header did not give Real Madrid’s keeper any chance. It was a deserved lead for Barcelona who has been controlling the game from the start.
